OUR STORY
La Gozadera was born out of a simple yet powerful idea – to bring people together through the universal language of dance.
In the midst of uncertainty and isolation during the pandemic, a couple of friends, united by their love for Latin culture and dance came together to create something beautiful amidst troubled times. What began as impromptu gatherings in outdoor spaces, fueled by a shared desire to provide a safe outlet for expression and joy, soon blossomed into something extraordinary.
We took to the outdoors, transforming parks and open spaces into vibrant dance floors where laughter, music, and movement intertwined. Against the backdrop of uncertainty, it offered solace and inspiration to all who joined us. With each salsa step, each bachata sway, we not only found joy in the rhythm but also forged deeper connections with one another.
As the impromptu gatherings gained momentum and popularity, it became clear that these events were more than just a passing trend – it was a movement. In 2023, we took the leap and officially launched La Gozadera DMV, with a mission to celebrate the richness of Latin culture and the joy of dance in a more intentional and inclusive manner.
Expanding Horizons
With La Gozadera DMV in full swing, we set our sights on new horizons. With our outdoor gatherings serving as the heart and soul of our community, we saw the opportunity to expand our reach and amplify our message. In 2023, we brought together upwards of 6,000 people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and dance experience levels to dance in front of iconic monuments, uniting under the stars in a celebration of life and togetherness.
Expanding our vision further, we began hosting indoor dance events in partnership with local restaurants, venues, instructors and artists. These indoor gatherings provided a cozy yet lively atmosphere where dancers could indulge in delicious cuisine while moving to the irresistible rhythms of Latin music and learning new dance styles. It was a fusion of food, culture, and dance, creating unforgettable experiences for all who attended.
Now, in 2024, we proudly unveil Monumental Rhythms – the evolution of our outdoor dance series. With a renewed sense of purpose and passion, Monumental Rhythms embodies the spirit of La Gozadera while embracing the grandeur of our nation's monuments. It's a celebration of culture, community, and connection set against the backdrop of history and heritage.
